The Wiraraja Madura Industrial Park in Bangkalan Regency, Madura Island, East Java, is steadily progressing toward realization. The development of this park is not only based on land resources but also carries the important goal of balanced economic development in Indonesia, and is expected to become a new economic growth pole in East Java, balancing the industrial layout of the existing heavy industrial park in Gresik. The chairman of the Indonesian Industrial Park Association stated that Bangkalan's infrastructure was already planned and laid out during the Habibie administration, providing the hardware foundation for industrial development, but private capital has long been reluctant to enter. Local poverty is a prominent issue, and one of the core demands for promoting industrialization is to create employment opportunities, improve local livelihoods, and achieve balanced economic distribution.
The park plans to introduce large-scale manufacturing, covering multiple tracks such as plastics, yarn, mattresses, furniture, chocolate, food packaging, and canned fish, with all products oriented toward the export market. After the project is completed, in addition to direct investment and production activities, it will also drive the development of supporting industries, activate the surrounding regional economic cycle, and is expected to absorb thousands of local workers. Currently, the physical construction of the project has not yet started and is still in the permitting stage. Once the approval process is completed, park construction will begin immediately. In terms of investment attraction, China is a key source of capital, with plans to establish an entire complete industrial cluster. This project is also an important component of the China-Indonesia "Two Countries, Twin Parks" cooperation framework.
However, the park does not rely solely on Chinese capital and is simultaneously engaging with investors from other countries such as South Korea, diversifying the entry of overseas manufacturing enterprises. The park's positioning is not merely a simple factory cluster, but rather the creation of a complete production supply chain oriented toward exports. Once completed, it will complete the industrial landscape of East Java, share the heavy industrial burden of Gresik, drive local employment and income growth for Madura residents, and boost the island's economic development. Currently, various procedures are being accelerated, and the market is continuously paying attention to the actual progress of the park's subsequent construction.
