Indonesia Federation of Guangdong Associations
Indonesian Federation of Guangdong Associations (Indonesian: Perkumpulan Persatuan Guangdong Indonesia)
Established on November 13, 2007, the Federation of Guangdong Associations in Indonesia (FGACI) is a federation of Chinese associations in Indonesia composed of Guangdong folks, aiming at uniting the strength of Guangdong Chinese, promoting community unity, advancing the development of social welfare, culture and education, and contributing to the construction of the Indonesian nation. It is the first overseas consortium of Guangdong associations jointly formed by Guangzhao, Hakka and Chaozhou associations.
historical background
The inaugural meeting and the inauguration ceremony of the first board of directors of KWCC was held on November 13, 2007 at the Sun City Tong Lok Restaurant in Jakarta. Chinese Ambassador to Indonesia Mr. Lan Lijun, Indonesian Cabinet Secretary Representative Mr. Chakaria, Director of Guangdong Overseas Chinese Affairs Office Mr. Wu Ruicheng, and nearly 2,000 Indonesian overseas Chinese leaders from all walks of life attended the ceremony. In his speech, Ambassador Lan Lijun said that the Cantonese Chinese have actively integrated into the Indonesian mainstream society and contributed to the social development and economic prosperity, and hoped that Guanglian Association would promote the unity within the Chinese community and the harmony between the Chinese race and the friendly races. Director Wu Ruicheng emphasized that the establishment of the Association signifies the unity of Guangdong villagers, Chinese communities and ethnic groups in Indonesia, and wished the Association success in its bid to host the Fifth World Congress of Guangdong Fellowship.
Organizational structure
The KWANA consists of the following nine associations:
Indonesia Hakka Friendship Association (representing Hakka Chinese), Guangzhou-Zhao Association (representing Guangzhou and Zhaoqing Chinese), Chaozhou Folks Association (representing Chaozhou Chinese), Hainan Friendship Association (representing Hainan Chinese), Meizhou Association (representing Meizhou Chinese), Tai Po Fellowship Association (representing Tai Po Chinese), Jiaoling Fellowship Association (representing Jiaoling Chinese), Huizhou Fellowship Association (representing Huizhou Chinese), Bilitong Fellowship Association (representing Bilitong Chinese), the first general chairman was Yip Luen Lai, vice chairman was Chan Pak Nin, Tsang Kuo Kui, Lee Hing Fook, chairman of supervisors was Chow Pak Tat. The first general chairman was Mr. Yip Luen Lai, the vice-chairmen were Mr. Chan Pak Nin, Mr. Tsang Kwok Kui, Mr. Lee Hing Fuk, and the chairman of the supervisory committee was Mr. Chow Pak Tat. The KWCC has a rotating chairmanship system, with past chairmen including Tsang Kee Jin, Tan Pak Yap and Yap Cheng Hin. As of November 18, 2022, the 6th General Chairman is Teo Kam Chuen from Kwong Shiu Association of Indonesia.
