Coordinating Minister for Maritime and Investment Affairs (Marves) Luhut stated that the Batang Integrated Industrial Zone (KITB) or Greater Batang City will become a Special Economic Zone (KEK). Covering 4,300 hectares, KITB will continue to expand in four phases.Currently, KITB construction is only in phases one and two, covering 450 hectares and 650 hectares respectively. After the inauguration of KITB in Batang Regency, Central Java, Luhut said this is why he believes it will develop, and they have agreed to create a KEK so the government can provide tax exemption incentives and various other benefits. Officially inaugurated by President Joko Widodo, this national strategic project has attracted 18 companies to invest in KITB, with total investments reaching IDR 14.8 trillion. These companies come from both domestic and foreign sources, employing 19,000 workers. Joko stated that this industrial zone aims to create new job opportunities. He said during the KITB inauguration that the government must provide as many job opportunities as possible for the people. Currently, with investments of IDR 14.8 trillion, this already involves 19,000 workers. The construction of KITB has been ongoing for four years and will continue, with the goal of utilizing all 4,300 hectares and absorbing a total workforce of 250,000 people.
The 18 companies entering KITB include PT KCC Glass Indonesia (South Korea), PT Yih Quan Footwear Indonesia (Taiwan, China), PT SEG Manufaktur Ind (USA), PT Wanxinda Batang Industry Land Investment (Mainland China), PT Green Travel Industry Development (Mainland China), PT Xiang Jiang Group Indonesia (Mainland China), PT CosmosIndo Ink (South Korea), PT Wavin Manufacturing Indonesia (Netherlands), PT Jayamas Medica Industri (Indonesia), PT Unipack Plasindo (Indonesia), PT Tawada Healthcare (Indonesia), PT Interskala Medika (Indonesia), PT Interskala Medika Solusindo (Indonesia), PT Samator Indo Gas Tbk (Indonesia), Acindo Medika Sejahtera (Indonesia), PT Window Shutters Indonesia (Indonesia-UK), PT Sumber Graha Sejahtera (Indonesia-Singapore), and PT Rumah Keramik Indonesia (Indonesia-India).
