The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) noted that in July 2024, the value of clothing imports increased, especially from China. Imports of knitted garments and accessories (HS 61) grew by 55.46% month-on-month. Meanwhile, non-knitted garments and accessories (HS 62) rose by 29.91%. HS 61 mainly came from China, Vietnam, Bangladesh, Turkey, and Italy. Similarly, most HS 62 imports came from China, followed by Bangladesh, Vietnam, Hong Kong, and Morocco.
Meanwhile, the value of footwear imports from China increased by 21.54% year-on-year and 7.37% month-on-month. However, Indonesia's largest imports from China are not clothing and footwear, but machinery and mechanical equipment and parts thereof (HS 84), with an import value of USD 1.55 billion. The second largest is electrical machinery and equipment and parts thereof, worth USD 1.27 billion.
