The Minister of Finance revealed that in cooperation with the Coordinating Minister for Political and Security Affairs, they cracked down on the smuggling of illegal imported goods worth 490 billion Indonesian Rupiah within a week. The operation was carried out through collaboration with the Directorate General of Customs and Excise, the National Police, the Attorney General's Office, the Indonesian National Armed Forces, and related ministries and institutions (K/L). The operation, conducted from November 4 to November 11, 2024, has cracked down on 283 smuggling cases involving various commodities.
During a press conference at the headquarters of the Directorate General of Customs and Excise, she stated that the operation involved goods such as clothing, textiles, electronics, cigarettes, alcoholic beverages, and narcotics, with an estimated value of 490 billion Indonesian Rupiah within one week. Through this operation, the total state losses recovered reached 10.3 billion Indonesian Rupiah. This operation is still under further investigation. She expressed gratitude to the Coordinating Minister for Political and Security Affairs and the staff, noting that ministries/institutions are jointly implementing the Indonesian President's plan with good coordination.
