Indonesia's Central Statistics Agency revealed that from January to October 2024, Indonesia imported 402,000 tons of garlic worth USD 532.47 million (equivalent to IDR 8.4 trillion). The imported garlic mainly came from several source countries, including China, India, and Australia. China supplied 400,840 tons worth USD 529.22 million; India supplied 175 tons worth USD 3.07 million; and Australia supplied 2.04 tons worth USD 67,000. Among the three main source countries, China had the largest import volume, followed by smaller amounts from India and Australia.
Garlic prices rose in the second week of November 2024, increasing by 1.42% compared to the previous month. The number of cities/districts experiencing price increases in the second week of November also rose compared to the previous week. In the second week of November, garlic prices rose from IDR 41,681 per kg the previous week to IDR 41,908 per kg. The number of districts and cities with garlic price increases rose from 166 to 196. Compared to last month, garlic prices still rose by 1.42%, with approximately 54.4% of regions experiencing price increases. The average price of garlic across Indonesia was IDR 41,908.
