Indonesian Public Transportation Companies Accept Chinese-Made Electric Buses

State-owned public transport company Perum Damri is enhancing its eco-friendly public transport services, having taken delivery of 70 Zhongtong electric buses from China, which are scheduled to go into operation at the end of June as part of Damri's plan to operate 200 electric buses by the end of 2025, underscoring its role as a pioneer of sustainable public transport in Indonesia.Damri's Head of Communications said that the new buses reflect Damri's support for the government's Clean Energy Transformation Program and its goal of achieving net zero emissions by 2060. These electric buses are zero-emission and provide high comfort and efficiency for public transportation users in Jakarta. With a range of up to 250 kilometers on a single charge, they are equipped with advanced technology to ensure performance and charging efficiency, and Damri has adequate charging facilities at several depots in Jakarta. This addition brings the total number of Damri electric buses to 316, of which 116 are already in operation inTransJakartalines to operate on. Assuming that each electric bus replaces a diesel bus that emits 1.5-2 tons of CO2 per day, these 316 electric buses are expected to reduce CO2 emissions by thousands of tons per year.
