Indonesia has the potential to lead the change in battery energy transition

Batteries are rapidly becoming central to the energy transition as the world moves toward decarbonization, and Indonesia has great potential to lead the change, the general chairman of the Indonesian Battery Ecosystem Association (Id Battery) said at the opening of the International Battery Summit 2025 in Jakarta recently.Indonesia has the potential to be a leader in global battery production and there is an urgent need for an integrated, sustainable and inclusive battery ecosystem. He emphasized Id Battery's mission to develop a national battery ecosystem that meets global environmental and social standards, and referred to the strategic partnership between Indonesia Battery Corporation (IBC) and the International Finance Corporation (IFC) of the World Bank Group, which aims to support the development of an inclusive, data-based, and sustainable battery policy for Indonesia. He hoped that the International Battery Summit 2025 would serve as a catalyst for significant future developments in building a battery industry that drives the economy, protects the environment and empowers society.
