As the world enters the digital era, digital transformation in Southeast Asia is flourishing. The digital economy is a new engine for post-pandemic economic recovery and social development in Southeast Asia. Digitalization will drive the "Industry 4.0" industrial transformation and serve as the technological backbone for regional connectivity and the three pillars of the ASEAN Community. As the regional organization, ASEAN has formulated digital economy-oriented development strategies and master plans. Member states have rolled out multi-level and wide-ranging digital transformation programs, accelerating the construction of digital infrastructure, promoting the deployment and adoption of fifth-generation mobile communications (5G) and mobile internet, building big data centers, planning artificial intelligence solutions, creating smart cities, and promoting e-commerce, digital finance, and e-government. They are committed to building a digital economy, digital society, and digital government, and have achieved notable results. This development report takes Southeast Asia's entry into the digital era as its theme, tracks the development trends of political, economic, and foreign relations in the region, and provides analysis and forecasts for the region's short- and medium-term development, revealing the patterns and trends of Southeast Asian regional development under new circumstances.
