The Indonesian government is accelerating the development of the Madura Wilaya Industrial Park and has officially launched strategic cooperation with China's Guangdong (Fenyong) ASEAN Industrial Park, implementing the key China-Indonesia Two-Country Twin Parks (TCTP) cooperation project. This will bring a large number of Chinese industrial clusters to the Madura region of East Java, helping to promote balanced economic development in eastern Indonesia. Indonesia's Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs stated that the Madura Industrial Park is positioned as an important emerging industrial base for Indonesia, which can complement the Gresik petrochemical heavy industrial zone and improve the overall industrial layout of Java Island. Currently, the central government of Indonesia, the East Java provincial government, and the Bangkalan regency government are working together to accelerate various approval processes, striving to facilitate the rapid implementation of project investment and drive local employment and regional economic growth.

This cooperation will focus on launching a diverse range of labor-intensive manufacturing industries, with plans to develop advantageous industrial clusters such as chocolate processing, mattress manufacturing, textiles, and spinning, creating a comprehensive modern industrial park that integrates production and manufacturing, warehousing and logistics, and green energy. The project will not only expand Indonesia's manufacturing capacity but also further consolidate the foundation of China-Indonesia economic and trade cooperation. Relying on the 500 billion yuan bilateral currency swap agreement (BCSA) between the two countries, both sides are expected to promote local currency settlement in trade, reduce dependence on third-party currencies, and enhance the stability of bilateral trade. As early as May 8, 2026, the two sides had completed a number of major signings in Jakarta, including a strategic cooperation framework agreement and an industrial cooperation memorandum of understanding, and officially joined the Guangdong ASEAN Industrial Park International Cooperation Alliance, marking that industrial cooperation has entered the stage of substantive implementation.

The Mayor of Zhanjiang introduced that in 2025, the trade volume between Zhanjiang and Indonesia reached 2.461 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 6.3%. At present, 8 Zhanjiang enterprises have implemented 12 projects in Indonesia with a total investment of 370 million US dollars, while 6 Indonesian enterprises have established operations in Zhanjiang, forming a pattern of two-way investment that continues to take shape. Both sides look forward to using the park cooperation as a model to achieve industrial information exchange, capacity upgrading, and two-way investment empowerment. Indonesia's Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs stated that the Madura Industrial Park project is a key layout for Indonesia to expand new economic growth poles and balance regional investment. This China-Indonesia park cooperation will promote technology transfer, industrial upgrading, and employment expansion, becoming a new benchmark for high-quality economic and trade cooperation between the two countries.
