Chinese investors plan to build cross-sea cable car in Indonesia

The city of Bantay Lampung is planning to create a futuristic tourism project, the cross-sea cable car, which is being developed by the local government in cooperation with Chinese investors with an investment of 2.5 trillion rupiah. The project is based on a 50:50 partnership model, which means that the municipality and the investor will equally share the capital contribution and the operating income. The total length of the cable car route is about 3.5-4 kilometers, including 1 kilometer from the mayor's office building to the coast, and about 2.5 kilometers from the coast to an unnamed island. The local mayor said that the project is in the negotiation stage with investors, and it is expected that in July 2025, a team from the municipality will travel to China to demonstrate the technology. Although the location of the island has not yet been announced, the city government is confident that the project will be a major attraction for domestic and international tourists, and is expected to become an iconic tourist attraction in Indonesia, serving not only as an advanced mode of transportation, but also as a catalyst for the revival of tourism in Lampung.
