China and India cooperate to build a new steel plant with a capacity of three million tons per year

PT Krakatau Steel Indonesia and its group are cooperating with PT Dexin Steel Indonesia, a subsidiary of China's Delong Iron & Steel Group (the world's 11th largest and China's 7th largest steel producer), to build a new steel plant in the Krakatau Industrial Zone in Chilgong City, Banten Province, covering an area of more than 500 hectares.The goal is to build an integrated steel plant with a capacity of 3 million tons per annum to produce high quality steel and explore green steel development.2025 May Krakatau Steel delegation visited China and signed a raw material sourcing MOU with Delong Steel, which was signed by theDelonghi GroupAs witnessed by the Chairman of the Board of Directors, a delegation from Delong and Dexin visited the Chilgong site on June 3 to assess the proposed site and the existing supporting facilities (e.g. port, steel mill), and further discussions were held on June 5 in Jakarta, with a clear focus on the construction of the steel mill. This cooperation will help Krakatau Steel to advance its vision of making Jilgong a green steel center in Southeast Asia by providing land through PT Krakatau Sarana Infrastruktur to facilitate technology transfer and research and development of environmentally friendly steel. It is also expected to create thousands of local jobs, strengthen the industrial supply chain, support national strategic projects, and generate economic growth.multiplier effectthat will drive the region's economic development. Delong recognizes the strategic position of Chilgong as an industrial base with mature infrastructure and is fully assessing the feasibility of investment.
