Chinese firms launch Indonesia's first soda ash project in East Kalimantan

The 300,000 tons/year soda ash project of Indonesia's Pupuk Kaltim (PKT), general contracted by Sinochem Tianchen, was officially started. This project is the first soda ash project in Indonesia and a national key project in Indonesia, and it also means that China's Husqvarna Soda Ash Process (Union Soda Ash Process) has landed in Indonesia for the first time. The project is located in Bontang, East Kalimantan Province, Indonesia, with a construction scale of 300,000 tons/year of soda ash plant. In response to a number of strategic plans of the Indonesian government, the project adopts the international advanced combined alkali process, which not only improves the production of compound fertilizer through the by-product of ammonium chloride in order to promote the self-sufficiency of food, but also utilizes carbon dioxide as the raw material to help realize the goal of carbon emission reduction and green economy. Upon completion, the project will significantly reduce Indonesia's dependence on soda ash imports, promote the rapid development of its soda ash downstream industry, promote the independence of Indonesia's chemical industry, and have a positive impact on the local economy, environment and society. This project is a vivid practice of Tianchen to implement the "Belt and Road" initiative and "T+EPC" business innovation model. In the future, Tianchen will focus on the Group's development strategy and work ideas, give full play to its own advantages, build a safety bottom line, adhere to quality standards, and strictly control the schedule nodes to push forward the project construction, and set a new milestone for the cooperation in the field of chemical industry between China and India.
