About 90% of industrial land in Indonesia is undeveloped and unutilized

About 90% of planned industrial land in Indonesia has not yet been developed and utilized, and there is a huge potential for investment. The total area of industrial land in Sumatra is about 185,400 hectares, and only 13,000 hectares (about 71 TP3T) are utilized. The total area of industrial land in Java is about 350,500 hectares and only 34,000 hectares are utilized. However, the activity and land use suitability permit (KKPR) is inadequate, the integration of regional spatial planning (RDTR) with the online single submission system (OSS) is slow, and there are obstacles in the land acquisition and release process. The government aims to integrate 2,000 RDTRs into the OSS by 2025, but as of mid-2025, only 367 have been completed, with the rest still in the process of synchronization and digitization.
