Indonesian Immigration Officers to Wear Law Enforcement Cameras With Them

印尼移民官员将随身佩戴执法摄像头

On July 25, 2025, the Directorate General of Migration began equipping Migration Service staff with body cameras, with the aim of increasing accountability and transparency in their work. The cameras will record every interaction and action of the staff to ensure compliance with work procedures; provide objective evidence in the event of an incident; strengthen internal control and enhance the integrity and professionalism of immigration services; and protect the staff and serve as evidence in the event of allegations of impropriety against them when they are acting in accordance with procedures. At a joint rally at the Sukarno-Hatta immigration checkpoint at 1:00 a.m. that day, the Secretary of the Directorate General of Immigration symbolically placed body cameras on five immigration staff members. After the rally, staff representatives signed an integrity pact, pledging to uphold professional ethics, eliminate misconduct, and provide public services with integrity and honesty.

As of July 25, 24 staff members at the Sukarno-Hatta immigration checkpoint, as well as those in charge of intelligence functions, had been equipped with body cameras. The choice of holding the rally in the early hours of the morning was made so as not to disrupt the flow of travelers. The General Directorate of Immigration asked all immigration staff to be prepared to be monitored, evaluated and held fully accountable for every action and decision taken in the course of their work.
