Indonesia's total coal production this year is expected to exceed 700 million tons

The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) expects total coal production to exceed 700 million tons in 2025, and coal production in the first half of 2025 amounted to 371.66 million tons, which is more than half of the target, and the relevant officials are optimistic about the achievement of the full-year target.Compared with the first half of 2024, coal production in the first half of 2025 fell by 8.471 TP3T (production in the first half of 2024 was 406.06 million tons).Coal exports in the first half of 2025 were 185.98 million tons, down 6.131 TP3T from 198.13 million tons in the same period of 2024.Indonesian coal production in 2023 was 775 million tons, a record record high at the time; coal production in 2024 reached 836 million tons, not only setting a new record, but also exceeding that year's target of 710 million tons by 1,171 TP3T; and the 2025 coal production target of 735 million tons was lower than the actual production in 2024.
