Inbound Indonesian travelers' goods still need to be inspected after declaration

Indonesian Customs has clarified that even if a traveler's baggage items are registered in the All-Indonesia system, they will still be inspected.Inspection of baggage items is an important part of Customs work during passenger entry and exit. The all-Indonesian system of registration is designed to enhance the efficiency of customs clearance and facilitate the rapid passage of travelers.But that doesn't mean registered luggage is exempt from inspection. Indonesian Customs said that baggage checks are conducted based on a number of considerations.

On the one hand, this is to ensure that travelers carry items that comply with Indonesia'slaws and regulationsIncludesProvisions on prohibited and restricted items for import and export. For example, someEndangered animal and plant products, unauthorized drugsThe importation of such goods is strictly prohibited; and some special commodities need to follow specific procedures and regulations when exported.

On the other hand, the inspections are also intended to maintain the state'sEconomic order and securityPreventinghave an illicit affairand other illegal activities occur. Customs staff will screen passengers' baggage based on professional judgment and relevant inspection procedures. For registered baggage, the same will be done throughState-of-the-art inspection equipment as well as manual inspectionetc., to determine the legality and compliance of the contents of the baggage.

Even if travelers have registered their baggage information in the system in advance, they should not take it lightly and must ensure that the items they are carrying are in compliance with the regulations.
