Indonesia to introduce new regulations on industrial radiation monitoring

The Minister of Industry has announced that the government is working on a new regulation requiring industrial zones and factories nationwide to submit regular radiation monitoring reports in response to the previous discovery of cesium-137 (Cs-137) radioactive contamination in the Cikande industrial zone in Banten province.

Highlights of the new regulations include mandatory quarterly reporting:Enterprises are required to submit every three months, through the National Industrial Information System (SIINas), a radiation portal monitoring (RPM) data. At the same time, companies can choose to purchase their own testing equipment or commission a third-party organization to complete the testing; the goal is to ensure the safety of export product quality and maintain the trust of the international market in Indonesian industry.

The Government emphasizes thatThe raw materials, production processes and supply chain of the Cikande industrial zone were not affected by radiation.Current multi-site decontamination efforts in the region are expected toCompleted in December 2025. The new regulations will be enacted as soon as possible to strengthen industrial safety standards.
