Indonesia and South Korea Cooperate to Develop Electric Vehicle Battery Industry
The Ministry of Economic Coordination (MEC) recently conducted a visit to PT HLI Green Power's production facility in Karawang, West Java, in order to promote green and sustainable economic transformation and accelerate the development of the country's electric vehicle (EV) industry.The Deputy Coordinator of Economic Digitalization Cooperation at the Ministry of Economic Integration said that the company's facility is one of the largest and most strategic electric vehicle battery manufacturing structures in Indonesia. The purpose of the visit was to gain an on-site understanding of the readiness of the ecosystem of electric vehicle batteries developed by the company.
From an economic perspective, the national electric vehicle battery industry is expected to bring significant value-added to the Indonesian economy and is expected to create export opportunities, enhance the balance of trade, and have a multiplier effect on the growth of supportive industries ranging from nickel mining to electronic components.The Chief Executive Officer of HLI Green Power expressed his gratitude for the government's support and introduced the various types of batteries produced at the facility. The parties expect this cooperation to strengthen the long-term partnership between Indonesia and Korea in the field of renewable energy and environmental technology. The event was also attended by relevant teams from the Ministry of Economic Coordination and representatives from Hyundai Motor.
