During the 14th China Ingredient E-commerce Festival held in Wuhan in 2026, Indonesia simultaneously held the 2026 China-Indonesia Food Trade Ecology Forum, demonstrating its firm determination to further strengthen economic and trade cooperation with China. This forum built an important strategic platform for promoting Indonesia's food export growth and attracting industrial investment, helping to improve Indonesia's food industry ecosystem and expand channels to the Chinese and global markets. In this event, Indonesia had 17 exhibitors, including local producers and national brands, showcasing various high-quality specialty foods. Indonesia also reached cooperation with institutions such as the AFEX Expo, planning to jointly build an integrated international food industry platform, leveraging China's industrial capacity and Indonesia's resource advantages to deepen cooperation in aquaculture and seafood sectors.
In addition, ATTEC, Chongqing Department Store, and Liangzhilong Group signed a letter of intent for cooperation, taking a substantial step for Indonesian food entering the Chinese market. The Director General of National Export Development at the Indonesian Ministry of Trade stated that the Chinese market has huge potential and that opportunities should be fully seized to broaden the global export channels of Indonesian products. She expressed strong confidence in the deepening cooperation between enterprises of the two countries. The Indonesian Minister of MSMEs emphasized the importance of building an integrated, globally competitive food ecosystem and proposed three key cooperation priorities: building an integrated food supply chain, conducting technological innovation cooperation in the food sector, and expanding market access and investment partnerships. Cooperation must cover the entire industry chain from production to digital distribution and be implemented as long-term investment and practical cooperation.
The debut of the Indonesia Pavilion also reflects the country's determination to promote high-quality food globally. In addition to traditional food trade, this forum also provides an opportunity for Indonesia's culinary industry to go international. Exhibitors such as Sari Ratu are actively expanding overseas markets. Indonesia hopes to use the global expansion of Indonesian restaurants as a link to drive the export growth of local spices, herbs, and other specialty products. Through this exhibition and series of forums, Indonesia aims to achieve practical cooperation, expand exports while attracting investment and promoting industrial upgrading, consolidate its position in the global supply chain, further play its role as a strategic partner in the global food industry, create a more attractive investment destination, and realize a mutually beneficial, win-win, long-term and stable economic and trade cooperation pattern between China and Indonesia.
