Chinese-Invested Melamine Project Becomes Milestone for Indonesia's Downstream Industrialization

The Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs recently stated that the first melamine project in Indonesia, invested by a Chinese company, is an important milestone in Indonesia's efforts to advance industrial downstreaming and increase industrial added value. On that day, the groundbreaking ceremony for Indonesia's first melamine project, invested by Jiapu United Technology Co., Ltd., was held in the Gresik Special Economic Zone, East Java. In his video speech, he pointed out that the project uses locally produced natural gas as raw material, which is first processed into liquid ammonia, then extended to high-value-added downstream industrial chains. Once completed, it will strongly support the development of Indonesia's agriculture, chemical industry, and other strategic manufacturing sectors, while expanding export opportunities and significantly enhancing Indonesia's competitiveness in the global chemical industry chain.

Indonesia Becomes China's Largest Investment Destination in Asia

Over the past two decades, China has carried out large-scale, systematic global investment expansion, and Indonesia has become China's largest investment destination in Asia. According to Visual Capitalist data, from 2005 to the present, Chinese companies have invested over $1.5 trillion globally, equivalent to approximately 25,350 trillion rupiah. However, these investments are unevenly distributed, with only a few countries being the main destinations for Chinese capital. Despite the geopolitical tensions between China and the United States,

Two-Country Twin-Park Marine Equipment Manufacturing Park Transitions to Above-Ground Main Structure Construction

The China-Indonesia "Two-Country Twin-Park" Marine Equipment Manufacturing Park project recently successfully completed the hoisting of its first steel column, marking the official transition from underground foundation construction to the critical above-ground main structure construction phase, laying a solid foundation for subsequent project construction. Under on-site command and coordination, the truck crane smoothly lifted the steel column and precisely placed it at the predetermined position of the foundation cap in Zone B of Building 1#. The entire hoisting process was standardized and orderly, achieving success in a single attempt. Nanshan Aluminum Invests $1.8 Billion to Build an Oil Refinery in Indonesia

Recently, Nanshan Aluminum announced an investment of approximately $1.8 billion on Bintan Island, Indonesia, to build an oil refinery with a daily capacity of 100,000 barrels. As an aluminum giant, why is Nanshan venturing into the oil business? The strategy behind this move is much larger than many people imagine. The $1.8 billion 'energy bulletproof vest' optimizes the cost of the entire industrial chain. Nanshan's core logic for investing this $1.8 billion can be summed up in four words: extreme closed-loop. As we know, producing electrolytic aluminum requires a key auxiliary material called carbon anodes, and its core raw material, petroleum coke, is precisely a byproduct of oil refining. Although Indonesia has the world's fifth-largest bauxite reserves of over 1.2 billion tons, due to its backward refining capacity, more than 50% of its refined oil has long relied on imports.
