China's electric vehicle giant BYD saw an increase in car sales in the Indonesian market in October 2024 at the factory-to-dealer or wholesale level. According to the latest data from the Indonesian Automotive Industry Association (Gaikindo), BYD's electric vehicle sales in October reached 2,488 units, a month-on-month increase of 16.5%. Another Chinese automaker, Wuling, followed closely with a sales increase of 9%, selling 2,203 vehicles, compared to 2,004 units in September 2024. Chery also followed BYD and Wuling with a month-on-month increase of 699 units, up 3.71%. The situation faced by Chinese automakers is similar to that of manufacturers from several other countries, with brand sales increasing in the Indonesian auto market in October.
However, Gaikindo data shows that from January to October this year, overall brand-level wholesale car sales were only 710,406 units, a decrease of 15% compared to 836,128 units in the same period last year. In October 2024, wholesale sales reached 77,191 units, a year-on-year decrease of 3.9%. October 2024 sales increased by 6.2% month-on-month to 77,191 units. October 2024 wholesale car sales: Toyota 27,030 units, Daihatsu 14,096 units, Honda 8,633 units, Suzuki 5,491 units, Mitsubishi Motors 5,486 units, Mitsubishi Fuso 2,414 units, Hino 2,320 units, Isuzu 2,106 units, Hyundai 1,711 units, BYD 2,488 units, Wuling 2,203 units, Chery 699 units.
