In August 2024, the ranking of the top 10 best-selling four-wheeled vehicle brands in Indonesia changed, with BYD, which had only started selling a few months earlier, ranking sixth. BYD's performance even pushed Hyundai out of the top 10 best-selling brands in August. Despite the shake-up, the top five best-selling brands were still occupied by Japanese brands. Toyota remained the best-selling car, followed by Daihatsu, Honda, Mitsubishi, and Suzuki. In August, Gaikindo's total sales of all brands increased by 2.8% compared to July, reaching 76,304 units. Compared to August 2023, the result fell by 12.6%. Total sales from January to August reached 560,619 units. Compared to the same period in 2023, this data plummeted by 17.1%.
