Chinese firms invest three trillion rupiah to build factories in Indonesia

PT Polygroup, a multinational manufacturing company headquartered in China, is officially constructing its second factory in Indonesia at the Industrial Estate (KPI) in Sugihmanik Village, Tanggungharjo.A groundbreaking ceremony was held recently for a 20-hectare plant that will house two subsidiary plants, PT Harmoni Cahaya Indonesia with 5 hectares for export to Europe and PT Nortex Berkat Indonesia with 15 hectares for export to the U.S. The first phase of the plant will start with the construction of PT Harmoni Cahaya Indonesia, which is expected to be operational by March 2026. The investment amounts to 3 trillion rupiah, and the company says the factory will be able to absorb at least 6,000 laborers once it is operational.The chairman of PT Polygroup Indonesia Manufacturing said the investment was made in order to achieve the export target for the next nine months, with plans to ship 7,000 containerized cargoes abroad, all of which will be used for export. Grobogam and Kendal were chosen for the investment due to their competitive prices and the mutual demand between the company and the local area. The local community welcomes the construction of the factory, the director of PT ALIB believes that it will create job opportunities for the residents in the surrounding area; local villagers said that the factory will not only absorb labor, but also drive the development of small businesses in the surrounding area, and he hopes that the local government will coordinate with all the parties to ensure that the construction is carried out smoothly.
