Morovalli Park has significant economic and social benefits generating $15.4 billion in foreign exchange.

The Morovalli Industrial Park (IMIP) has been successful in attracting a large amount of foreign investment as a nickel processing center. In 2015-2024, the investment amounted to $34.3 billion (about Rp 562.52 trillion), and the export earnings were $15.4 billion (about Rp 252.56 trillion).Numerous companies from China, Australia, India, Japan and South Korea have settled in the park, and 51 tenants are currently in production, covering three industrial clusters, including stainless steel, carbon steel and raw materials for electric vehicle batteries. The park creates a large number of local jobs with 85,000 Indonesian employees, mainly from the Sulawesi region, of which about 30% are from Morowali regency. Contractors, outsourcers and foreign laborers are also not included, which strongly boosts employment in the surrounding areas. To attract more investment, IMIP has developed three strategies. The first is to ensure legal certainty, covering regulations, licenses, financial support and ease of doing business; the second is to improve efficiency and support tenants by building infrastructure such as ports and airports, and providing healthcare facilities, including the construction of hospitals to respond to serious accidents; and the third is to promote sustainable development by sustaining relevant initiatives such as upgrading production capacity and developing local human resources.
