Chinese firms participate in landfill gas development project in Indonesia's Riau Province

Sinohydro and Pekanbaru Municipality have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to cooperate on a comprehensive landfill gas utilization project at the local TPA Muara Fajar landfill site, aiming to convert landfill gas into clean energy.Pekanbaru, the capital of Riau Province in Sumatra with a population of about 1.2 million people, is facing challenges in environmental protection and sustainability due to the accelerated urbanization that has led to an increase in the amount of household waste, with the landfill handling 1,000 tons of waste per day. With the advanced technology and rich experience in environmental protection and new energy, Water Industry Group adopts landfill gas collection, purification and utilization technology to achieve waste recycling and sustainable energy supply. This project can solve the environmental problems of landfills, reduce greenhouse gas emissions and improve the quality of the urban environment; it can also provide stable and clean energy, alleviate energy tension and promote sustainable economic development. It is also an important step in the Group's overseas new energy market layout, the third cooperation agreement signed in Indonesia; demonstrates technical strength and innovation capability, expands overseas markets and enhances international influence; and accumulates overseas project experience, laying the foundation for similar projects in more countries and regions in the future. Both parties will take the signing of the cooperation memorandum as an opportunity to closely cooperate to promote the implementation of the project, and it is expected that the project will be a complete success.
