After China opened quarantine access to fresh coconuts from Indonesia in November 2024, on April 12, 2025, 100 kg of fresh Indonesian coconuts arrived smoothly at Fuzhou Airport. Following customs quarantine clearance, they were delivered to Fujian Miaotianhui Food Co., Ltd., marking China's first import of fresh Indonesian coconuts and completing a key piece of the coconut industry cluster within the Fuzhou China-Indonesia 'Two Countries, Twin Parks'. The China park of the 'Two Countries, Twin Parks' has formed four major advantageous industries, with grain, oil, and food as the leading sector, alongside textiles and chemical fibers, light industrial machinery, and energy and fine chemicals. As of 2024, there are 112 registered above-scale enterprises, including 42 food processing enterprises, whose total above-scale output value accounts for over 60%. In 1991, with the joint efforts of overseas Chinese leader Lin Shaoliang and the Fuzhou municipal government, the Fuzhou Yuanhong Investment Zone was established. In 2019, Fujian Province proposed the concept of building a China-Indonesia 'Two Countries, Twin Parks' to leverage the complementary resource endowments and industrial foundations between Fujian and Indonesia and integrate into the new development paradigm. In January 2023, the State Council approved the establishment of the China-Indonesia Economic and Trade Innovation Development Demonstration Park in the Fuzhou Yuanhong Investment Zone, marking the comprehensive and substantive implementation phase of the 'Two Countries, Twin Parks' construction. Focusing on five major cross-border industrial chains—marine fisheries, tropical agriculture, light industry and textiles, machinery and electronics, and green mining—and supported by four driving sectors: port logistics, research and innovation, business exchanges, and cross-border service cooperation, the park integrates port logistics parks and food industrial parks as dual hubs. It plans key facilities such as a national backbone cold-chain logistics base and a global food map research institute, aiming to build China's largest food import and export distribution and trading center, creating an international division of labor and cooperation model deeply integrating industrial, supply, and value chains. At the same time, a sea-land-air-rail intermodal transport system is being established, with multimodal transport convenient corridors and multi-level exchange and communication mechanisms to promote bilateral personnel flows and the interconnection of logistics and information between China and Indonesia. Zhaohua Aquaculture has invested in a 6,000-mu (about 400 hectares) South American white shrimp farm in Indonesia, where the Indonesian side handles infrastructure, seeding, farming, and harvesting, with mature shrimp shipped to China for further processing, providing over 5,000 jobs for Indonesia and preparing to build a third-phase 5,000-mu farming base. Shengtian (Fuqing) Food Co., Ltd. is cooperating with Indonesia's Salim Group to build 10 fishery bases in Indonesia. Fujian Yuguan Food Co., Ltd. plans to register and establish an international trading company in Indonesia. As an innovative project under the Belt and Road Initiative, the China-Indonesia 'Two Countries, Twin Parks' not only creates a new platform for economic and trade cooperation between China and Southeast Asian countries but also develops a replicable and scalable new model for deepening regional cooperation in Southeast Asia, becoming a new high ground for promoting China's high-level opening-up.
