Indonesia to increase imports of U.S. oil and agricultural products

The Minister of Economic Coordination has said that the Indonesian government plans to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the United States on Monday, July 7, 2025 on increasing imports, which is related to Indonesia's increased imports of petroleum from the United States as well as agricultural and other commodities.Indonesia will import energy commodities from the U.S. with a total value of 15.5 billion U.S. dollars (approximately 251.11 trillion rupiah). In addition to energy commodities, imports of agricultural products are also included, as well as related investment programs involving state-owned enterprises and Danantara. Negotiations are continuing, with representatives of Indonesia's negotiating team now in Washington, D.C., while there are also negotiating teams from other countries such as India, Japan, the European Union, Vietnam and Malaysia. Indonesia wants the US to refrain from imposing reciprocal tariffs, known as 0% reciprocal tariffs. As the deadline for trade negotiations with the US is approaching, for July 8-9, 2025, Indonesia has made a second offer to the US that includes key mineral investments and the electric vehicle ecosystem.
