Geothermal power project designed by Chinese company officially put into operation

中企设计地热发电项目正式投运

The Lumutbalai II Geothermal Power Plant Project has been approved by the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources and the National Electricity Company for official commissioning after passing the 72-hour continuous reliability operation test. The project is located in Muyin Regency, Gugang City, South Sumatra Province.Construction of a 55 MW (net output) condensing steam turbine generator set, supporting steam collection system, brine recharge long-distance piping system, transmission and transformation lines and booster station and other facilities. The project is designed by the Southwest Institute of China Electric Power Engineering of China Energy Construction Corporation. The project is a complete implementation and successful operation of Chinese enterprises "a flash steam" geothermal power plant project, but also Chinese companies in Indonesia designed the largest single unit capacity of geothermal power generation projects, marking an important breakthrough in China in the field of geothermal power generation technology applications. As the first overseas geothermal power plant project of SWI, the project has injected strong kinetic energy into China-Indonesia green cooperation and enhanced the international influence of SWI in the field of geothermal power generation. The project successfully realizes the complete engineering application of "one-time flash steam" geothermal power generation technology, which provides a model for China's geothermal technology to go global; optimizes the design of the long-distance steam collection and delivery system and the brine recharge system to maximize the use of medium-temperature geothermal resources, enhance the power generation efficiency and maintain the ecological balance; optimizes the power station and pipeline for the project area with regard to the volcano topography and geological conditions, In view of the volcanic terrain and geological conditions in the project area, the seismic and geological adaptive design of the power plant and pipeline system is optimized to ensure safe and reliable long-term operation. It is also an important project for Indonesia to realize the goal of "adding 5.2 GW of new geothermal power generation capacity in 2034, and the proportion of renewable energy capacity will reach 76% of new power generation". It can alleviate the problem of local power supply and promote the economic and social development of the region.
