China remains Indonesia's top source of imports

Indonesia's imports amounted to $235.2 billion in 2024, up 5.42% from $221.9 billion in 2023.Of this, oil and gas imports amounted to $36.28 billion and non-oil and gas imports amounted to $198.9 billion.The top ten source countries of Indonesia's imports in 2024 were China, Singapore, Japan, the United States, Malaysia, Australia, Thailand, South Korea, Vietnam, and India. Imports from these ten countries increased by $12.3 billion or 7.591 TP3T in 2024 compared to 2023, and their share of Indonesia's total imports rose to 74.411 TP3T in 2024 from 72.911 TP3T in 2023.China's exports to Indonesia amounted to $73.8 billion in 2024, accounting for 3.141 TP3T of total imports to Indonesia, making it the Indonesia's largest source of imports. Compared to 2023, China's exports to Indonesia increased by 16.511 TP3T (US$10.5 billion) in value and 19.251 TP3T (6.9 million tons) in volume. Major imports include machinery and parts imports of $17.5 billion, up 17.47%; electrical equipment and parts imports of $14.6 billion, up 7.48%; iron and steel imports of $3.7 billion, up 19.05%; plastics and plastic products imports of $3.6 billion, up 27.35%; vehicles and parts imports of 3.2 billion U.S. dollars, an increase of 57.53%. while Singapore's imports of 21.5 billion U.S. dollars, accounting for 9.16%; Japan's imports of 14.98 billion U.S. dollars, accounting for 6.37%.
