Red Flag plans to enter Indonesian car market

PT IMG Sejahtera Langgeng, a subsidiary of PT Indomobil Sukses Internasional Tbk, and China FAW Group Import & Export Co. have signed a cooperation agreement, whereby IMGSL will be responsible for the distribution of Red Flag vehicles in Indonesia in terms of both complete vehicles and parts, including after-sales service.Born in 1958, the Red Flag brand has served as a symbol of China's automotive industry as the seat of Chinese leaders and as a vehicle for major state events.The brand shifted to the market in the late 1970s, and the launch of its new design strategy in 2018 has led to a gradual increase in sales and global exports. Red Flag announced its global expansion plan in April 2025, with plans to enter more than 100 countries and regions and establish 1,000 sales and service outlets within five years. It will build five overseas hub clusters in Southeast Asia, Europe, Latin America and other regions, and set up local low-carbon R&D centers, supply chain and operation centers. The company plans to realize an annual overseas production capacity of over 200,000 vehicles and create over 20,000 upstream and downstream jobs. Relying on the three technology platforms of electric "Tiangong", hybrid "Honghu" and intelligent "Jiuzhang", the company has launched more than 20 new models globally, with the goal of becoming a globally recognized symbol of oriental culture. Currently, the company has 18 models, including fuel-efficient vehicles, pure electric vehicles, plug-in hybrid vehicles and programmable models. 2024 will mark the seventh consecutive year of sales growth, with annual sales reaching 411,777 units.
