President Prabowo officially appointed Deputy Minister of Marine and Fisheries Didit Herdiawan Ashaf (Retired Navy Vice Admiral) as Chairman of the North Coast Authority (Pantura Authority), with Deputy Chairmen Darwin Trisna Djajawinata (Executive of PT SMI) and Suhajar Diantoro (Former Secretary General of the Ministry of Home Affairs).
The core task of this agency is to lead the construction of the giant sea wall on the north coast of Java Island, covering an area from Banten Province to East Java Province, with a total length of 700 kilometers.
The initial phase focuses on the Jakarta-Banten-Bekasi coastline (2025-2033), with a budget of IDR 123 trillion (approximately USD 7.4 billion). This project has received technical support from the Netherlands, drawing on its experience in delta engineering flood prevention. Chinese and Korean companies such as Hyundai Engineering & Construction and PowerChina will also participate in the bidding for construction. The sea wall can address coastal erosion (subsidence of 3-25 cm per year on average), protecting 6 million coastal residents and aquaculture industry (annual production value of IDR 47 trillion). The Minister of Marine and Fisheries ensures it runs parallel to the shrimp pond revitalization program (50,000 hectares to be renovated by 2025), while retaining mangrove restoration areas (30% of the sea wall combined with ecological barriers).
