Indonesia plans to build solar power plants in 80,000 villages

The Minister of Economic Coordination has announced that President Prabowo has ordered the construction of solar power plants in 80,000 villages, with a total planned installed capacity of 80 gigawatts.The project will be implemented through village red and white cooperatives and aims to accelerate Indonesia's energy self-sufficiency. Initially, a 1-megawatt power plant will be built on 1 hectare of land as a pilot project, and when fully rolled out, it is expected to generate annual electricity equivalent to four years of total energy subsidies.
