Chinese car brands' sales in Indonesia soar in first 10 months
According to wholesale sales data released by the Indonesian Automotive Industry Association (Gaikindo), theJanuary - October 2025Chinese auto brands sell 82,436 units in Indonesia, double the number of units sold in the same period last year. The increase in sales is related to the continuous expansion of Chinese car brands into the Indonesian market. Seventeen Chinese car brands have been registered in Gaikindo this year, up from 11 last year.
Although Wuling has just launched a new seven-seat MPV, Darion, it has also sold nearly 13,000 units, ranking third among Chinese brands; new brands entering the Indonesian market this year have also helped boost sales, with BYD's high-end sub-brand Tengshi selling nearly 7,000 units after its debut at the beginning of the year, and Geely selling more than 2,000 units.
Chinese car brands now account for 131 TP3T of Indonesia's total national wholesale car sales, up from 5.81 TP3T last year, making up to some extent for the 10.61 TP3T decline in the overall wholesale sales of the Indonesian auto industry.
