The CEO of Danantara revealed that the government plans to launch multiple downstream projects in the near future, including bauxite smelters, environmentally friendly aviation kerosene refineries, and downstream processing of coconut products. Previously, the government set a target to consecutively complete groundbreaking ceremonies for 18 major downstream projects by March 2025. Projects to be launched include an aluminum smelter in Mempawah and an environmentally friendly aviation kerosene refinery in Cilacap, West Java.
In Mempawah, West Kalimantan, two alumina refining projects will be developed, with the first project costing USD 2.4 billion and the second USD 890 million. In Cilacap, West Java, an environmentally friendly aviation kerosene refinery project will be launched with an investment of USD 1.1 billion. Additionally, a comprehensive coconut processing facility will be established in Morowali, Central Sulawesi, with an investment of approximately USD 100 million.
In Banyuwangi, East Java, a bioethanol facility worth USD 80 million will also be developed. Finally, downstream poultry farming facilities will be developed, with 12 projects planned to be launched first, of which the specific details of 5 projects have not yet been disclosed.
The launch of these projects marks an important step for Indonesia in achieving economic diversification and reducing reliance on raw material exports. By developing downstream industries, Indonesia can not only increase product added value but also create more job opportunities and promote regional economic development.
