The Largest Land-Based Solar PV Project Constructed by Chinese Enterprises in Indonesia Officially Put into Operation

The largest land-based solar photovoltaic project in Indonesia, the Karawang 100 MW solar PV project, built by a Chinese enterprise, was officially handed over for use on August 28. The project is located in West Java Province, covering a total area of about 80 hectares, with a planned DC installed capacity of 100.78 MW. It is jointly invested by the Batam branch of Indonesia's State Electricity Company and Aruna, an energy investment company under the Salim Group. China Power Construction Hubei Engineering Co., Ltd. is the general contractor for the project. The project has provided thousands of local jobs and trained a number of skilled workers. At the handover ceremony, representatives from relevant Indonesian government departments, enterprises, and related investors highly praised the efficient construction of the project, which will help Indonesia's energy transition and sustainable development. It is reported that the project will provide more than 150 million kWh of clean electricity annually, meeting the annual electricity needs of about 112,000 households, while reducing carbon dioxide emissions by about 114,700 tons, effectively lowering local electricity costs.
