Indonesia plans to build solar power plants with Chinese firms

印尼计划与中企合作建设太阳能发电站

Indonesia plans to cooperate with Chinese companies to build 100 gigawatts of solar power plants, and the related cooperation has advanced during the working visit of the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources to China, who recently held bilateral talks with Chinese solar panel company Trina Solar.Indonesia's solar energy potential reaches a peak of 3,294 GW, but as of December 2024, only about 912 MW has been utilized. The Government hopes to optimize the planning of clean energy power supply through cooperation to achieve energy sustainability and self-sufficiency.

The collaboration focuses on PT Trina Mas Agra Indonesia TMAI, a joint venture between Trina Solar and a local Indonesian partner located in the Kendall Special Economic Zone in Central Java.TMAI was established in 2023 and is theIndonesia's first Tier 1 integrated factoryThe company specializes in solar cell and module production with an initial annual capacity of 1GWp and plans to expand to 3GW in the next 2-3 years, using theEfficient i-TOPCon N-Type TechnologyThe

This cooperation could reduce Indonesia's dependence on imports of components for the energy industry, accelerate the downstream development of the industry and buildDomestic solar energy ecosystems and supply chainsThis includes the production of silicon wafers and ingots (materials commonly used in the smelting of semiconductors and polysilicon). Contribute to President Prabowo's plan to build 100GW of solar power plants, including village solar power plant projects promoted through the village cooperative model. Expect to accelerate the realization of the goal through investment and technology transfer from global manufacturers and expand cooperation toLatest technology applications, integrated energy solutions (covering R&D, manufacturing, project development, IoT systems and energy storage systems)The
