① Basic Introduction and Composition:
The Indonesian Ministry of Finance is the core ministry in charge of state finance, taxation, customs, budget, treasury, state assets, and fiscal policy. It oversees key systems such as the Directorate General of Taxes, Directorate General of Customs, Directorate General of Budget, Directorate General of Treasury, and Fiscal Policy Agency. It both formulates fiscal policy and manages tax and customs enforcement, making it one of the most powerful ministries in Indonesia's economic governance.
② Role and Operation Mode:
The Ministry of Finance is responsible for compiling and executing the APBN state budget, and formulating policies on income tax, value-added tax, customs duties, excise tax, fiscal incentives, and state fiscal guarantees. The Directorate General of Taxes handles taxpayer registration, filing, audit, and collection; the Directorate General of Customs handles import/export clearance, customs duties, supervision of prohibited and restricted goods, and implementation of bonded zone policies. Major investment incentives usually require joint confirmation from the investment ministry and the Ministry of Finance system.
