A large number of Chinese laborers in Chinese-funded companies may be deported

Based on the directive of the Director General of Immigration, the Bekasi Immigration Department has conducted joint inspections of a number of foreign companies in the area with the aim of regulating foreign workers, maintaining national security and stability, and enhancing the public's trust in the immigration agency.A local Korean automobile company employs 52 Korean employees, all of whom have legal limited residence permits (ITAS), and no immigration violations were found. Another Chinese automotive company employs 19 Chinese nationals, 18 with ITAS issued by the local immigration office and one with ITAS issued by the South Jakarta Immigration Office, but there are problems: the positions registered on the employees' ITASs do not match their actual positions, e.g. one person is registered as a production consultant, but is actually a manufacturing integration manager. There were anomalies in the company's internal documents, with some foreign employees' workplaces inconsistent with the records of the Foreign Worker Use Program (RPTKA). Five Chinese employees working at a local Chinese-owned photovoltaic company were unable to provide RPTKA and proof of residence, and one of them claimed to be living in a local apartment. The Immigration Bureau will conduct an in-depth investigation into the above findings, and if violations are confirmed, administrative immigration measures will be taken in accordance with the regulations, and deportation of the offending foreign nationals will not be ruled out. This action is not only an administrative routine, but also an important step in the enforcement of the State's laws, the maintenance of legal certainty and the detection of potential threats to foreigners, which demonstrates the General Directorate of Immigration's determination to strengthen immigration control and maintain the integrity of the Territory's laws.
